Crime drama. When ambitious DI Joseph Chandler is assigned what looks like a simple case of domestic violence, he thinks a quick result will line him up for promotion. But when the investigation runs out of suspects, Chandler finds an alternative theory from Edward Buchan, an expert on Jack the Ripper. Buchan points out the similarities between the murder and the Ripper's killings, and the race is on to catch the copycat before he strikes again.

Second part of a three-part crime drama. DI Chandler continues to clash with cynical DS Miles and the team, and the situation is not helped by difficulties with their murder investigation. New suspects only lead to dead ends, and the police struggle to penetrate the conspiracies and myths that surround the legend of Jack the Ripper. A frustrated Chandler pins his hopes on trapping their latest suspect, but the operation goes horribly wrong.

Conclusion of the three-part crime drama. The Ripper must kill one more victim to complete his re-enactment of the 1888 murders. DI Chandler is near to breakdown as he struggles to find an answer. Forensics and CCTV are useless, and the team are forced to rely on their instincts, hoping that the past will provide some clue to the killer's identity. But time is ticking away, and history tells us that Jack the Ripper was never caught.
